Announcements and Items of Interest

 

The Church Choir meets at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday in the sanctuary for practice before worship. All are welcome to join!

The Knitting and Crocheting Group meets in the fellowship hall on Wednesdays from 1- 3 p.m. Contact Janis Kenyon for more information. (828) 898-3339.

 The Church Grounds Cleanup and Mulching Workday will be held on Saturday, April 13, 10-12 noon.  Volunteers are needed! Please contact John Kehoe if you can help:  980-297-0338.  The rain date is Saturday, April 20. 

Pastor Kathy left on April 1 to visit over 60 members of our church family who spend the winter and spring in Florida. She will return to the office on Tuesday, April 16. Please contact Janis Kenyon with any church concerns: home- 828-898-3339; cell phone- 828-387-0309. 


Our April Pot Luck will be on April 21, following worship. The entree will be Pulled Pork. Please bring your favorite BBQ side dish, or dessert to share.

Our May Bible Study Group will continue using the Lectio Divina process for a deep reflection on Bible stories from the Old and New Testament.  Please join us every Wednesday, May 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, from 3-4:30 p.m., in the fellowship hall.

The Habitat for Humanity Road Trip Crazies are coming to Avery County, May 4 & 5!! We need volunteers! It’s going to be an exciting weekend. Building a house from the foundation to the roof in two days. The work site will be near the Gilmer Community Center at 151 Friendship Lane, Elk Park, NC. Register to volunteer as an individual or group, provide building supplies, snacks, drinks/lunch, or monetary donations. Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. Feeding Avery Families needs volunteers to help distribute food on Wednesdays. Please check out their volunteer page: www. feedingaveryfamilies.org. Volunteers are also needed at Reaching Avery Ministry (Ram’s Rack) next to the Dollar General in Newland. They need help from volunteers to assist in the thrift store. You can show up and they will put you to work! Mon-Fri: 9:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Sat: 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.
