Sunday, April 28, Worship at 11:00 a.m. Please bring your Food for People & Pets & Daily Change donations. Join us for coffee and cookies in the fellowship hall following worship.

The Church Choir meets at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday in the sanctuary for practice before worship. All are welcome to join!

Ashlyn is having knee replacement surgery on Monday, April 29, and will be out of the office next week and the next. She will return as her knee heals and she progresses in physical therapy. The Knitting and Crocheting Group meets in the fellowship hall on Wednesdays from 1- 3 p.m. Contact Janis Kenyon for more information. (828) 898-3339.

Our May Bible Study Group will continue using the Lectio Divina process to deeply reflect on Old and New Testament Bible stories. Please join us every Wednesday, May 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, from 3-4:30 p.m., in the fellowship hall.  Our first story will be The Prodigal Son. 

The Men’s Group will meet on Friday, May 3, at 8:30 a.m., at Kaye’s by the River (was Kaye’s Kitchen) for breakfast and fellowship.

A Big Thank You to our volunteers who spruced up the church grounds and spread mulch this past Saturday--Gene Hodges, Skip Carlson, Kevan and Lillie Bloomgren, and John and Diane Kehoe.

Last Sunday’s potluck was great! The pulled pork and short ribs were perfect. The sides were delectable. Thank you to all who helped with the food, set up, and clean up.

Pastor Kathy returned from her two-week trip to Florida on Tuesday, April 16. She traveled 2,240 miles and visited 50 members of our church family. She enjoyed wonderful hospitality, delicious food, staying in beautiful homes, soaking up lots of sunshine, and most importantly, sharing in the lives of so many dear members who are a blessing to our congregation. Due to a generous donation, her trip expenses were completely covered.

The Habitat for Humanity Road Trip Crazies are coming to Avery County, May 4 & 5!! We need volunteers! It’s going to be an exciting weekend. Building a house from the foundation to the roof in two days. The work site will be near the Gilmer Community Center at 151 Friendship Lane, Elk Park, NC. Register to volunteer as an individual or group, provide building supplies, snacks, drinks/lunch, or monetary donations. Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. Feeding Avery Families needs volunteers to help distribute food on Wednesdays. Please check out their volunteer page: www. feedingaveryfamilies.org. Volunteers are also needed at Reaching Avery Ministry (Ram’s Rack) next to the Dollar General in Newland. They need help from volunteers to assist in the thrift store. You can show up and they will put you to work! Mon-Fri: 9:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Sat: 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.
