Announcements and Items of Interest

We will be celebrating Epiphany “The Season of Light” this Sunday, January 5. Our worship service moves from the sanctuary to the fellowship hall for the winter months. February birthdays will be celebrated with birthday cake and coffee following worship.

·      A new Bible Study for these cold winter days, will begin on Wednesday, January 15, 3-4:30 p.m. Hearth & Home led by Daniel Coffey is an eight-week devotional journey centered on Bible stories chosen by the participants. These sacred stories will be enhanced with art, music, and poetry. Our first session on January 15 is based on the Epiphany story of the Wisemen from Matthew 2:1-18. We will be studying the story through the themes of Holy Journey, Holy Resistance, and Holy Seeking. This wonderful winter study will let us dive into the sacred stories and our own stories as well. Please sign up by emailing Pastor Kathy: rev.kathy.campbell@gmail.com

·      Our Christmas Eve Service was so beautiful and filled the congregation with the peace and joy of Christ! This peace and joy will also extend beyond our church because of the abundant generosity of everyone who contributed to the Christmas Eve Offering this year. We raised over $13,000! Thanks be to God! These donations will be used by Volunteer Avery County for emergency propane, kerosene, gas, and electricity to heat homes of many who are struggling financially this winter. Thanks for caring and sharing!

·      The Craft Group will resume this Wednesday, 1-3 p.m., in the fellowship hall. Bring the craft you are working on and come enjoy the fun and fellowship.

·      An update on our Hurricane Relief/Recovery Fund: As of January 2, we have raised $117,000 (Covenant Presbyterian Church contributed $30,000 and the Grandfather Foundation contributed $5,000). To date, we have spent over $36,000 on relief and recovery projects. That leaves us with a balance of $81,000 and we are still receiving donations. An update on the projects we are funding will be shared in the next couple of weeks. Thanks to everyone who is donating in every way: money, time, and resources! God is good!
