Announcements and Items of Interest

A new Bible study will begin in June. More information will be coming.

The Congregational Fellowship committee is asking for donations of regular coffee and cookies for fellowship time after worship. It is the time of year when our numbers swell. We would love to have some gluten free options also, so bring your favorite goodies and leave them in the kitchen.

The Craft Group welcomes all who want to work on a craft or just share in fellowship to join in on Wednesdays, 1-3 p.m., in the fellowship hall.

There will be a Session meeting in the fellowship hall on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.

Our May potluck luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall on May 18, following worship. Fried chicken, water, tea, and lemonade will be provided. Please bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share.

Our Sanctuary Roof Project is moving forward. The roof tiles have been delivered! George Riggsbee has created a display of the beautiful new roof files in the upper parking lot near the back door entrance. The scaffolding is up in the sanctuary! Take a look! We are now raising the final $100,000 for the roof project; the cost of supplies has greatly increased due to Hurricane Helene. To date, we have received donations/pledges for $18,027. We still have $81,973 to meet our goal. If you did not receive a capital campaign letter, please call the church office (828-733-1939), and we will send you a copy.

An update on our Hurricane Relief/Recovery projects from February through April 2025, the funds we have dispersed, and the remaining funds will be reported soon. It has been over seven months since Hurricane Helene devastated our mountain communities- much has been accomplished, with more yet to do.

Volunteer Opportunities at this time: Reaching Avery Ministry- next to Dollar General in Newland- Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.- help with food boxes and clothing distribution; Feeding Avery Families- look at their Facebook for details.
